Coming Soon...
We found our photographer and are planning on taking our engagements next weekend!
She really is amazing. I have to thank one of my bestest friends, Cassidy Fontaine, for bringing her to our attention. Her work is fabulous and I am thrilled to get her before she takes a few months off. (Thats why we are taking the engagement pics kinda early.) I am so excited and I know she will make two already good lookin folks, even better lookin. ;P

Update
Gavin and I have been back in St. George for awhile now. Gavin has been doing football; he says its going real well, the team is looking pretty good and there is a chance he will actually get to be on the field this year as reciever. DSC is lucky to have him. I have been trying to find a job and recently (just today) got offered a job at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel down here. I am real excited about that. We have also been in training to be Resident Assistants at the dorms. The past couple days we have been helping check students into their rooms and being trained on how to be good RA's. The picture above was us rock climbing as an activity about teamwork. You should have seen me holding the rope when Gav was climbing. . . :) It was funny. I was using all my weight to keep him from falling and as he was repeling down, I slid across the floor.
School starts on Monday too. Its going to be a really busy time with school, work, football, homework, RA's, wedding plans and other random activities, we're hoping time will go by fast.
We also bought a grill at a yard sale for $10. . . but it doesnt work. :( We have also been looking around for a place to live after we get married. We found a little house for a real good price that was really nice, but its rented out right now, maybe in a couple months it will be available. :) But there are alot of other places too.
Well thats about it for now. . . I have been trying to get Gavin to write some stuff. Maybe next time. . . :D

About a week ago, my mom and I were heading down to St. George so I could look for jobs before school started. Before we headed down, we wanted to check out some dress shops and maybe get an idea of what prices we were looking at. We had already been to a few, but hadnt found anything too amazing. But we went to this one shop called "It's Your Day Bridal" in Clearfield, UT and found it. It was everything I wanted... Beaded top, vintage style rooshing (spelling?) swoosh waist, and corset back. And it was a KILLER price. The only downside... it didnt have sleeves. But at a price like that, it would be simple to get some alterations done.
Because my mom and I were heading down to St. George, we still werent sure if we wanted to shop around, so we asked the store owner if they could hold it for us until we got back. She said she could, but if someone wanted to buy it, she would let them have it. She even said that a girl had been in earlier that day and tried it on and really liked it.
As we were talking, the doors opened and two ladies walked in. The store owner turned towards us and mouthed, "Thats her!"
So my mom and I went in the dressing room and talked and decided that we would regret it if we didnt get it, so we walked out and told them that we were going to buy it, if they could hold onto it until we got back. The girl looked blank. The store owner immediately started saying that they could order her another one, that her wedding was in June, so they'd have plenty of time. She looked like she was staring off into space.
As we were getting rung up, my mom went outside to apologize to the girl and see if she wanted to buy it from us when I was done. I was inside with the cashier and she told me not to feel bad, the girl was only 17.
It's a gorgeous dress and I can't wait until Gavin can see me in it. :)

.... We have gotten a horse-drawn carriage!
~ How cool is that? One day, we were all just talking and throwing out ideas of how to make the reception amazing and one of the ideas suggested was that we get a carriage to bring people from the parking lot to the reception location. We thought it would be absolutely amazing, but where were we ever gonna find an affordable carriage, let alone, trained horses? Well, literally the next day, (I kid you not) my mom is driving down the street by our house and lo and behold, there one is; just sitting on the side of the road in a trailer. My mother, of course being the go-get-her woman she is, pulled over and marched up to the house asking what the story was with the carriage. It turned out that the owners owned a company in Logan that would be hired for weddings, but were in need of the extra cash, so they posted the carriage on e-bay. Well, my mom wanted to know if they were up for a trade, she would help them design their house and we would get the carriage. It was amazing! So now... WE HAVE A SWEET carriage! Thanks Mom, you are awesome. :)

The Proposal
Gavin and Lauren had decided weeks in advance, that they would spend Independence Day with her family and the 24th of July weekend with his. That night, Gavin had planned a horse ride at the cabin where they had their first date. The plan was to go to pick up the horse, then drive to the cabin and ride up the mountain in time to see the sunset. But they were delayed and didn’t think they would make it up in time.
When they finally arrived to the cabin, they hopped on the horse and headed up the trail in a slight rain. The trail was steep and the horse had a hard time carrying both of them, so Gavin hopped off and started pulling it up the mountain.
They barely made it and caught the end of the sunset. They laid out the blanket and waited for the fireworks to start.
“While we were waiting, there was some lightening not too far away.” Lauren said. “I started to get nervous so I asked Gav to say a prayer. After he did, I immediately felt safe and could relax and enjoy being on the mountain.”
Gavin then pulled out some glass goblets and they drank sparkling apple cider while overlooking the valley.
When the fireworks started, they got up and watched the explosions from below. Gavin left for a minute and came back and wrapped his arms around Lauren and told her she would love the finally.
“He was shaking so bad.” Lauren said. “I assumed it was because he was cold so I turned around and hugged him. He was still shaking but he told me I needed to let him go.”
She did and Gavin dropped to his knee.
“Lauren,” he asked, “Will you be my wife?”
Gavin then pulled out a ring and Lauren started crying.
She told him yes. :)

How They Met
Lauren and Gavin officially met at Dixie State College in the winter of 2008. For a time, they had been in the same singles ward, but never got a chance to become acquainted. But during the Homecoming tailgate party, Lauren, being a member of the activities committee, served Gavin some cotton candy.
“It was really windy,” Lauren said, “I couldn’t keep the cotton candy under control. It was a bit embarrassing, but I thought it was funny and luckily he had a good sense of humor about it.”
The wind didn’t keep DSC football player, Gavin from getting seconds. “I was her best customer.” Gavin said. “I had never dared talk to her before and now she was a damsel in distress, so I thought I’d take advantage of the situation.”
That created a window of opportunity and few weeks later they started seeing each other all over campus.
“It was finals week and everywhere I turned, there he was.” Lauren said. “If I didn’t think he was so dang cute, I would have thought it was creepy.”
Over Christmas break, they got in touch and decided to get together and make plans for New Years Eve and go to Gavin’s friend’s cabin.
“I was nervous,” Lauren said. “I didn’t know what to expect and I really wanted it to go well. Well…” she said, “It ended up going very well, and we’ve seen each other just about every day since.”
