In 2008, CNN teamed up the unlikely pairing of Anderson Cooper (the silver fox) and Kathy Griffin (one of my favourite comedians of all time) for their 2008/2009 New Years Eve coverage. It was all going swimmingly until Kathy had a small disagreement with some people standing below thri presenting platform - a conversation ensuerd in which Kathy told them that she would "Knock the docks outta their mouths". The comment was broadcast live on the CNN network and Griffin was promptyly fired after the show.
In 2009, CNN invited Kathy back to host the show again for the 2009/2010 New Years Eve coverage and she was told that if she breached her contract again, she would not be paid for presenting. During the show, Kathy and Anderson discussed some of the biggest news stories of 2009 and one of them was "Balloon Boy". True to form, Kathy dropped the F-Bomb live on air (I reported on it in my very first blog post) and was again fired from the show.
Obviously gluttons for punishment, CNN bosses invited Griffin back again for the 2010. In this video, Kathy discusses what Anderson can expect and how CNN plan to deal with her if she acts up again!
I love how he seems to genuinely find her funny - if only they could present a show together every day!
