On September 10th last year, I sat on the sofa misty eyed at the end of Big Brother. I'd spent 10 years watching that show from the very first episode of the first series right up to the end .... the memories of Davina's constant gurning, the write off that was BB4, the casual racism, always hoping for a hot gay guy but being sorely disappointed, Tourettes Pete to name but a few.... So imagine my excitement when Channel 5 announced that they had purchased the rights for the show from 2011 for 2 years! The show was saved! .... or was it?
Fast forward to this evening at 9pm when the new series of Celebrity Big Brother kicked off. First thing - the same theme music??? If Channel 5 want to give their slant on the Big Brother experience, then this is a bad and downright lazy start! Opening titles look smooth though, so I'm willing to let the music thing slide... for now.
On to the presenting team for the next moan! I understand that Brian Dowling was a very popular housemate and he won BB2 and Ultimate BB, but that does not translate into him being a good presenter. He looked uncomfortable (which is understandable as it was his first show), but for me Big Brother will always be Davina McCall's baby. If I'm completely honest, I would have preferred for Brian to be sidelined on to the Big Brother's Bit On The Side show while the amazingly talented Emma Willis took the reins of the main show. Maybe I'm being unfair to Brian - only time will tell....
Now on to the "celebrities".....
I love Kerry and remember her from the days of Atomic Kitten. Yes, she was out of her face on this morning and married the biggest douchebag in the world (Mark Croft, not Brian McFadden .... although....) but she seems to have turned her life around.
The American Pie actress is famous for her partying and was reported to have superglued her tooth back in after it fell out in a club (that's dedication!). She's now 35 and newly married, so she shouldn't be too wild in the house.
Paddy starred in an episode of the hit Channel 4 show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and calls his wife "wo-man".
Amy starred in ITV2's docusoap The Only Way Is Essex (alongside the delicious Mark Wright) and says that she has brought her vajazzle-ing kit with her. First impression - thick with big boobs.
Darren is a photographer who runs the website Mr Paparazzi.com. Not used to being this side of the lens...
Sally is the wife of speaker John who got into trouble for posing in a bedsheet while standing next to a window that overlooked Big Ben. She's a rebel who doesn't give a fuck what happens and is donating her £100,000 fee to charity
This guy has starred in Coronation Street and Waterloo Road and he still hasn't hit 20! Could possibily be a bit of a ladies man, but might have competition from Bobby....
The ex wife of the Hoff, Pamela has starred in Baywatch but that's been about it. Could CBB be her big claim to fame?
