Starting off with the shopping, Oxford Street is a MUST and has every high street brand imaginable. Make sure you hit Topman (which I've been told is the largest in Europe, but it was by a drunk person so it might be wrong) where the entire range is spread over two floors (it's also eye candy central). Selfridges is another must see and it has the mix of high end and high street fashion (I think we spend an hour just walking around one floor), as is John Lewis, H&M, Zara and Bershka to name but a few.
Moving on to Regent Street, you'll find the higher end stores like Banana Republic and a lot of the designer labels have their own stores here as well. You'll also find an Abercrombie & Fitch nearby, but you will need to queue for over an hour to get in and everything is overpriced.
Now the interesting bit - the bars & clubs. We visited a lot of places but still only scratched the surface of what is on offer in London. Here's a few words on each place:
The Village - Nice place, but the front bar can get very crowded. Drink prices are okay and there are gents in their pants dancing on the end of the bar to keep you there
79CXR - I found this place to be very nice and relaxed but it seemed to cater for a more mature audience. Drinks prices reasonable and located not to far from the main SoHo strip
The Yard - This is one of the places that I loved! There are 2 inner bars, each heaving with sweaty, muscular men wearing jumpers (I was warm and I was only waring a t shirt). Also has a large courtyard and balcony outside if your feeling the heat
Ku Bar - This was a recommendation from a friend who told me to stay near the bar and it didn't take long to figure out why - topless barmen. One was seriously the hottest specimen I've ever seen! The night we went it was very crowded (and Londoners do love to walk straight into you), so if your visiting keep a tight grip on your drink
G-A-Y Bar - The flagship bar on Old Compton Street lives up to its reputation playing cheesy pop music and serving cheap drink. If your visit Mon-Thu, they have a promotion called the Illicit Eleven where you can get a vodka and a mixer for £1.60. You wouldn't even get the mixer for that in Dublin!
G-A-Y Late - Just round the corner, it's basically the late version of G-A-Y bar (as the name suggests). The same drinks offers apply midweek
G-A-Y Club @ Heaven - I heart this place! They've kept all the traditions of G-A-Y Club at the (now demolished) Astoria so every Saturday night at 12:30am you'll hear Better The Devil You Know by Kylie as balloons fall from the ceiling. This doesn't open every night and has set nights each week
- Thursday Night - Porn Idol
- Friday Night - Camp Attack (seriously camp if you ask me - they even have a showtunes room and that's why i love it)
- Saturday Night - Performance Night where a guest artist will perform (last weekend it was Diana Vickers)
